Empress of the Seas is going to be staying in Greece for a few months
Royal Caribbean International said Empress of the Seas has not been sold, contrary to recent speculation.

The ship is 'on the way to Greece where she will stay for a few months. We are constantly looking for the best places to deploy our ships in order to get all the ship services we require for operations (provisions, fuel, etc.),' a company spokesman said in an email.

1990-built ship

Empress is Royal Caribbean's oldest, smallest ship. It was introduced as Nordic Empress in 1990. The 48,563gt vessel spans nine decks and has double-occupancy capacity for 1,602 passengers.

It underwent a $50m revitalization in 2016 and had served as one of Royal Caribbean's Cuba ships when it was possible for US-based companies to operate Cuba cruises.
