The search committee was announced by Stuart Miller, chair of the University of Miami Board of Trustees, UM law school alumnus and ceo of Lennar Corp.

Shalala announced her intention to step after leading UM for 14 years. She plans to return to the faculty as a professor of political science and health policty.
