Royal Caribbean is planning to bring Quantum of the Seas to Brisbane and Serenade of the Seas to Sydney on their maiden visits to Australia in October 2021.

Quantum of the Seas replaces the previously scheduled Radiance of the Seas.

The two newcomers will be joined by Ovation of the Seas in Sydney in the 2021/22 season.

67 cruises to 33 destinations

Together the three ships will offer 67 cruises to 33 destinations around the South Pacific, New Zealand and Australia, including Eden, Cairns, Adelaide and Darwin.

‘The 2021/22 season will see us welcome the most technologically-advanced fleet to ever sail Australia, which includes two Quantum-class smart ships,’ Gavin Smith, MD Royal Caribbean International Australia and New Zealand, said.

Economic impact

The three ships are expected to inject an estimated A$165m in passenger spend into the Australian economy.

The economic injection for the country’s suppliers is expected to be more than A$17.7m in food and beverage, including meat, dairy products and fresh fruit and vegetables.

‘We’re applying the best available public health, science, environmental and engineering insights and working closely with local health and government authorities,’ Smith said.

‘Keeping the health and safety of guests, crew and the communities and environments we visit continues to be our top priority as we cement our commitment to Australian cruising in 2021 and 2022.’
