Royal Caribbean's Europe return kicks off with Cyprus cruises

Jewel of the Seas is shown at new homeport, Limassol
Jewel of the Seas today embarked on a two-night preview sailing from Limassol, Cyprus, one of two Royal Caribbean International ships to resume cruising in Europe this week.

This is the first time Royal Caribbean calls Cyprus home. Sailings to Greece will visit Piraeus, Rhodes, Crete, Mykonos and Santorini.

UK cruises start Wednesday

'Jewel of the Seas’ first sailing out of Cyprus marks the beginning of an exciting return to cruising in Europe for Royal Caribbean,' said Ben Bouldin, VP EMEA, Royal Caribbean International. 'Cyprus is a beautiful country with a multitude of must-visit regions, and it is an extremely popular destination among our European guests.'

Jewel is one of two Royal Caribbean ships to return to cruising in Europe this week with Anthem of the Seas to sail from the UK's Port of Southampton on Wednesday. Further ships are planned to resume through August, including Harmony of the Seas from Barcelona starting Aug. 15.

Vaccination mandate for adults

Jewel will sail with fully vaccinated crew and passengers 18 and older, along with children under 18 who are ineligible for the vaccine. As a requirement of the Cypriot government, non-vaccinated vacationers between 12 and 18 must provide negative PCR test results taken within 72 hours of arrival in Cyprus.

In addition, passengers older than 2 will be tested at embarkation, at Royal Caribbean's expense.
