Sea Cloud Cruises said its new Sea Cloud Spirit will first carry passengers on April 22 from Palma de Mallorca.

The 188-meter/453-foot, three-mast full-rigged ship will also be named in Palma beforehand.

Sea Cloud Spirit, which holds a maximum of 136 passengers, is the modern interpretation of a legend that began in 1931 with Sea Cloud. Balcony cabins are a highlight of the new vessel. There's also a wellness and spa area, and a fitness center with sea view.

In addition to a fine-dining restaurant, Sea Cloud Spirit offers a casual bistro on the Lido Deck.

Maiden voyage

The maiden voyage is designed as a 10-day 'Tour of Spain.' From Palma, the ship will sail to mainland destinations including Barcelona, Tarragona and Valencia before the Balearic Islands back to Palma.

Sea Cloud Spirit is currently being completed at Metalships & Docks SAU in Vigo, Spain.

The 28 sails with a total area of 4,100 square meters/44,100 square feet have been been installed and the interior finishing is now being completed. After sea trials, the ship is expected to be handed over in first quarter 2021.
