Steiner Leisure lifts first quarter profit

Spa provider Steiner Leisure Ltd. posted a first quarter profit of $8.1m, or 62 cents per share, up from $7.4m, or 50 cents per share, in Q1 2014.

The results exceeded analysts' expectations of a 59-cent-per-share profit.

Revenues were off slightly, 0.3%, to $216.1m from $216.7m.

During the quarter the average number of ships served was 146, down from 154 a year ago. Revenue per staff day rose to $414 from $408.

Company management will conduct an earnings call at 11 a.m. ET April 30.
