Steiner Leisure's first quarter profit sinks

Spa provider Steiner Leisure Ltd.'s first quarter profit fell to $7.4m, or 50 cents per share, ahead of the Wall Street consensus expectation of 44 cents per share but down from $12.7m, or 86 cents per share, in Q1 2013.

Revenues rose 2.2% to $216.7m, from $212m.

During the quarter ended March 31, the average number of ships served was 154, one more than a year ago, while the average number of land-based spas was 66, down by one.

Shipboard revenue per staff day averaged $408, down from $431 a year ago.
