Switched on CMV do the school run
During a call to the Brazilian Amazon village of Boca da Valeria, ship officers from Cruise and Maritime Voyages' Marco Polo, visited the community school to donate and install the first computer ever seen in the education centre.
The sleepy village has a small population of 120 people
The idea of a computer came after discussions with local community leader Mr. Marcello and his wife Clara who thanked CMV for the donation and said they looked forward seeing it in use. CMV found someone in a village close by who has basic computer knowledge who will take care of the training.
CMV’s head of marketing, Mike Hall said 'We are looking forward to when we visit the village again next year, with Magellan, to see how things have progressed. It is fitting that we get the opportunity to offer a little something in return to the people of this village who give us and our passengers such a warm friendly welcome.'
Marco Polo is currently on a 42 night Amazon, West Indies and Azores cruise round trip from London, Tilbury.
