On hand for Trieste's maiden call celebration were Costa Crociere ceo Michael Thamm; Debora Serracchiani, president of the autonomous region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia; and Trieste Mayor Roberto Cosolini.

Costa Diadema is now en route to Genoa, where the christening will take place Nov. 7.

Until the end of the 2015 summer season, the ship is scheduled to sail from Savona on weekly cruises to the western Mediterranean with calls at Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Naples and La Spezia.
