The US-owned, crewed and operated small-ship brand reported a strong comeback in 2021 with 4,400 Alaska passengers carried. It got underway May 1 while the big-ship, non-US-flag lines had to wait until July.

April 8 to Oct. 8

UnCruise's longest Alaska season will start on April 8 and continue to Oct. 8. Itineraries of seven to 14 nights are available.

'April, May and early June are the driest months of the year in Juneau, and due to our maritime climate are not unduly cold. This, combined with meeting Alaska towns and people before the summer rush, makes the early season a treat for those who love to explore and step out of the norm,' said Dan Blanchard, owner and CEO, whose home is in Juneau.

Safari Endeavour returns

The 2022 season will also see the return of the 84-passenger Safari Endeavour to Alaska. After reconditioning, this vessel resumes the Juneau to Sitka seven-night 'Northern Passages and Glacier Bay National Park' route. The ship will be under the command of Capt. Adam Beeman.

UnCruise Alaska vessels have capacity for 22 to 86 passengers. Every itinerary includes small-group expeditions.

REI-inspired adventures/discounts

The line is collaborating with outdoor adventure equipment supplier REI to offer its Co-op members savings on sailings. The new Alaska multi-sport adventure cruise, 'Wild, Woolly and Wow,' is one such REI-inspired itinerary. This seven-night round-trip sails aboard Wilderness Legacy. REI Co-op members save $250 per person, with fares starting at $4,495.

Savings for REI Co-op members are also available on sailings such as the 14-night 'Baja & Bergs' route that combines Alaska and Mexico’s Sea of Cortés.

Ironman sailing

In addition, UnCruise partnered with Ironman and Travel Juneau for an Aug. 9-21 VIP sailing to give Ironman participants, family and supporters a post-race adventure.

The company's health protocols require full vaccination and a negative PCR test taken within three days of travel. Masks are mandated in public areas except when actively eating or drinking.
