What Royal Caribbean is calling 'the ultimate short getaway ... set to bring weekend energy to every day of the week' is scheduled to make its official debut July 19 with three-night weekend and four-night weekday getaways to the Bahamas.

This sixth Oasis-class ship is the first in the series to enter service on short cruises.

Godmother Meghan Trainor

Before its official debut, Grammy-winning artist and songwriter Meghan Trainor will serve as the godmother for Utopia of the Seas' naming festivities on July 15 during a preview cruise and  perform a concert in the AquaTheater July 17 alongside Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Decarbonization Summit

But before the festivities begin are potentially consequential matters for all of shipping's future.

Over the next three days, Utopia will play host to a Decarbonization Summit sponsored by Royal Caribbean Group in conjunction with the Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping.

Kicking off the summit on Friday, Royal Caribbean Group CEO Jason Liberty will deliver welcome remarks to participants, followed by a keynote address, "Maritime Decarbonization: Setting the Stage for 2050,' by Bo Cerup-Simonsen, CEO, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, and Palle Laursen, EVP and head of marine for Royal Caribbean.

A series of presentations and interactive workshops follow.

Seatrade Cruise News will be reporting from the Decarbonization Summit and the inaugural festivities
