Viking Ocean Cruises said the ship's engineers are working to correct a problem related to the electric transformers in one part of the propulsion system. Because repairs were expected to continue through the weekend, the line decided to cancel the remainder of the cruise.

The July 25 voyage was scheduled to end in Bergen, Norway, Aug. 8.

Passengers were offered options for continuing their journey to Bergen or returning home from Tallinn at Viking’s expense. All passengers will be compensated for the cancellation.

On Sunday Viking said no decision has been made about the upcoming sailing schedule, adding that should there need to be itinerary modifications, the customer relations team will be in contact with passengers whose cruise is affected.
