Chesapeake Shipbuilding delivered the Coastal Cat American Legend to American Cruise Lines, which announced plans for four more vessels.

This brings the company's orderbook with affiliated yard Chesapeake to 10 ships through 2027.

American Legend is scheduled to embark on its first cruise Nov. 25.

Ship intros every few months over three years

American's remaining newbuilds — coastal ships and a riverboat — will roll out every few months over the next three years. Now available for booking are American Patriot and American Pioneer (2025), American Maverick and American Ranger (2026) and riverboat American Encore (2026).

More details on the four additional newbuilds for 2027 will be released soon.

American has introduced 19 of the 24 cruise ships built in the US in the past 20 years.

The company will field 21 vessels in 2025, spanning a range of river and coastal itineraries.
