Celebrity Ascent completes sea trials with brother captains at the helm

Celebrity Ascent successfully completed its first open ocean sailing in the Bay of Biscay off Saint-Nazaire, with brother captains Demetrios and Tasos Kafetzis at the helm.

In addition, nearly 200 crew members were aboard to test the ship’s equipment from bow to stern.

Celebrity Ascent follows sisters Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Edge and has newly designed restaurants and culinary experiences and reimagined entertainment venues.

November delivery and Dec. 1 naming

The ship is scheduled for delivery from Chantiers de l'Atlantique in November and is due to operate a four-night western Caribbean preview voyage from Port Everglades on Nov. 22, followed by a three-night Bahamas getaway Nov. 26.

Naming festivities for Celebrity Ascent are set for Dec. 1 at Port Everglades. Following that, on Dec. 3, is the seven-night eastern Caribbean maiden voyage.

Summer 2024 in the Med

The ship will alternate eastern and western Caribbean routes throughout the winter before repositioning to the Mediterranean for summer 2024.
