The Polar Class 6 vessel, to be named, will embark on a long-term charter upon its delivery, set for August 2025.

This rounds out a series that began with the delivery of Greg Mortimer in 2019 and includes Ocean Explorer and Ocean Victory (2021), Ocean Odyssey and Sylvia Earle (2022) and Ocean Albatros (2023).

Design features

Each Infinity-class ship offers up to 95 passenger cabins, most with balconies, and multiple restaurants. Public rooms include a lecture space with flatscreens and a 180-degree observation lounge, outdoor viewing areas, a gym, sauna and spa.

An Ulstein X-BOW, a custom-designed platform catering to kayakers and divers, a dedicated sea-level Zodiac loading platform and a mudroom round out the features.

'A remarkable journey'

'With the steel-cutting of the seventh and final ship in the Infinity series, we mark the completion of a remarkable journey,' said Niels-Erik Lund, CEO, SunStone Maritime Group. 'These vessels exemplify our commitment to providing exceptional expedition cruises with a focus on comfort, safety and sustainability.'

Lund expressed gratitude to China Merchants Heavy Industries for their collaboration and expertise in bringing the Infinity series to fruition.
