Construction of Saga’s Spirit of the Moselle underway in Serbia
Construction work on Saga’s Spirit of the Moselle started last month in Serbia, with the vessel slated to launch next year.
The keel laying ceremony took place at Vahali shipyard, a penny placed at the hull in keeping with tradition.
Plans for Spirit of the Moselle, scheduled to set sail from July 2025, were first announced in 2022. Its sister ships, Spirit of the Rhine and Spirit of the Danube, launched in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Customers interested in receiving news about the ship’s maiden season can register their interest on the Saga website.
Exploring more rivers
Saga Cruise CEO Nigel Blanks said, ‘The team and I are thrilled to see this exciting next step in our growing river cruise offering….’
The line’s director of river product, Sergej Tocili, added, ‘We’ve reached another great milestone in our river cruise collection. Spirit of the Rhine and Spirit of the Danube have proven to be a great success with our guests, and I expect Spirit of Moselle will continue the same high quality river cruising while allowing us to explore a wider range of rivers.’
Interiors
Carrying up to 182 passengers, Spirit of the Moselle will have 95 cabins, of which 73 will have a French balcony, and take similar design cues from its two sisters, with a focus on bright, spacious surroundings.
Featuring floor to ceiling windows, the vessel will be bathed in light throughout, with its lounge area and bar becoming the social hub of the ship. The panoramic restaurant will serve buffet breakfasts and waiter-served lunches and dinners, while a more intimate dining space will be located at the rear of the ship, fitting for special occasions. The ship’s sun deck will include loungers and seating and there will also be a lower sun terrace for when the sun deck is closed.
Itineraries
In addition to Spirit of Moselle’s inaugural season, additional Christmas and New Year cruises are planned.
Cruising predominantly along the Main, itinerary highlights will include Nuremberg, Frankfurt and Bamberg in Germany, and the UNESCO protected Rhine Gorge.
