Crystal firmed an option at Fincantieri for a third 690-passenger, 61,800gt all-suite cruise ship.

Delivery is tentatively set for 2032.

This follows a memorandum of agreement for two newbuilds inked in June. Crystal had then said the first ship would be delivered in spring 2028 with a date for the second to be advised.

The value of this third order was not disclosed but Fincantieri classified it as 'large,' between €500m and €1m.

Trust and partnership

'Exercising this option and agreeing to build a third ship together showcases the trust and partnership between my family and Fincantieri, dating back to Sitmar Cruises and evolving through Silversea to our present vision with Crystal,' said Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, executive chairman of A&K Travel Group.

Added Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group: 'We’re pleased to bring an expanded fleet to our guests, offering even more ways to explore the world with the extraordinary service and style synonymous with Crystal.'

The announcement comes two years after A&K Travel Group acquired Crystal in 2022.

Ship features

The three new ships will have a wrap-around promenade, similar to those on Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. Wellness and relaxation will be at the heart of the design, with a comprehensive spa and fitness center.

Dining options will showcase a variety of world-class cuisines including Umi Uma, the only Nobu Matsuhisa restaurant at sea, as well as Beefbar in collaboration with restaurateur Riccardo Giraudi and dishes created with world-renowned Italian chef Massimiliano Alajmo and his brother, restaurateur Raffaele Alajmo.

Additionally, the ships will have a wide entertainment offering, including a Casino de Monte-Carlo, set to debut on Crystal Symphony this month and Crystal Serenity in December.

All-suite accommodations with verandas will include a popular single occupancy category with veranda for solo travelers.
