The Bremen-based operator will use Deutschland during the period from June 9 to July 29, first for a group charter and then, from June 20, on three cruises to Spitsbergen, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Shetland Islands.
Plantours said it had notified passengers of the change and is promoting three Deutschland cruises on its website.
Since the former Peter Deilmann Reederei ship is larger than Hamburg, there is some space available for the 17-day cruise from Longyearbyen to Kangerlussauaq on June 20, the 10-day round-trip from Kangerlussuaq on July 6 and the 15-day Greenland to Hamburg cruise on July 15.
According to German media, Hamburg will undergo repairs at Lloyd Werft.
Built in 1997, Hamburg has capacity for 400 passengers, while the 198-built Deutschland can carry up to 520 cruisers.
As earlier reported, Deutschland is scheduled to begin operating for the Semester at Sea program in August.
