Emerald Cruises takes delivery of Emerald Azzurra from Vietnam's Ha Long
Emerald Cruises has taken delivery of Emerald Azzurra, the first of its two superyachts.
The 100-passenger vessel, which left Vietnam’s Ha Long Shipyard today, will now make its way to Aqaba, Jordan ahead of its eight-day inaugural sailing in the Red Sea departing March 11. On conclusion of the voyage, the vessel will transit the Suez Canal as it readies to embark on a series of Mediterranean and Adriatic coast itineraries taking place through summer 2022. In January 2023 the ship will homeport in Doha.
‘Today marks a major moment for our team at Emerald Cruises as the first in our fleet of oceangoing superyachts takes a giant step towards completion,’ remarked Glen Moroney, founder and chairman, Scenic Group, which includes Emerald Cruises. ‘The demand has been unprecedented with her inaugural season almost fully sold.’
Thanks given to the shipyard
Moroney went on to thank all those involved in the construction of the vessel, stating, ‘On behalf of everyone in the Scenic Group of companies we’d like to sincerely thank the shipyard, all our subcontractors and our local management team who have worked on this beautiful yacht.
‘We understand the difficulties the pandemic has caused which makes this accomplishment even more remarkable. We look forward to smooth sailing ahead for Emerald Azzurra along with a speedy build of Emerald Sakara.’
Emerald Sakara
Sister yacht Emerald Sakara will follow in February 2023; its Seychelles, Black Sea and Middle East itineraries are open for booking.
