The tour of ships under construction showcased the prowess of the group’s industrial center. Also on hand were Luigi Matarazzo, GM of the merchant ships division, and Dario Deste, GM of the naval vessels division.

Cruise ships currently being built in Monfalcone include Princess Cruises' Star Princess and TUI Cruises' Mein Schiff Relax.

Renewed interest in civil and defense shipbuilding

The visit took place in a climate of renewed interest at the European level in both civil and defense shipbuilding, and Fincantieri's presentation highlighted the company's values and strengths, playing up the group's commitment to defense and security as well as sustainability and ESG.

SEA Europe

The day also amplified the maritime industry strategy of SEA Europe, the association representing shipbuilders and marine equipment suppliers.

The Fincantieri delegation had a strong presence at Seatrade Cruise Global last week, and the event kicked off with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' blockbuster announcement of an eight-ship order with the Italian builder.
