Fincantieri's Monfalcone yard lays Carnival Vista keel

Fincantieri laid the keel for Carnival Vista during festivities at the Monfalcone shipyard. The 500-ton block that forms the base of the ship due for delivery in spring 2016 was positioned in the dock.

The 133,500gt ship will be the largest ever built for the Carnival brand.

Carnival Cruise Lines president and ceo Gerry Cahill recently said Carnival Vista will sport 'new features on the open decks not seen before in the cruise industry, and innovations in the accommodations and bars.' Details are expected to begin unfolding in early 2015.

On hand for the Monfalcone ceremony were owner's representative Ben Clement, vp newbuilds for Carnival, and Fincantieri manager Attilio Dapelo.
