Fincantieri's Monfalcone yard lays Star Princess keel

Fincantieri's Monfalcone yard today laid the keel for Star Princess, Princess Cruises' second Sphere-class ship.

It follows Sun Princess, nearing completion at Monfalcone.

The 175,000gt, 4,300-berth Star Princess is set to debut in the Mediterranean in August 2025. It is the line's second LNG-powered vessel.

500-ton keel block

The 500-ton keel was lowered by crane into the building dock in a matter of minutes. This commences the more than 2m man-hours that will ultimately go into building Star Princess.

Princess and Fincantieri executives welded a Princess Medallion into the ship for good luck.

Magnificent Italian craftsmanship
