Fincantieri's Palermo delivers the 'stretched' and transformed Star Breeze
Fincantieri's Palermo shipyard handed over Star Breeze, the first of three ships in Windstar Cruises' $250m Star Plus program.

Work entailed the addition of a 25.6-meter/84-foot midsection, re-engining and extensively modernizing public areas, cabins and open decks. This challenging project was further complicated by asbestos removal and Italy's shutdown/mandated work stoppage during the initial wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
New capacity for 312 passengers
Built as Seabourn Spirit in 1989, Star Breeze measured 134 meters /440 feet in length and approximately 10,000gt, with capacity for 212 passengers. New dimensions are 160 meters/525 feet in length and 13,000gt, with capacity for 312 passengers.
Presidential tour
Windstar President Chris Prelog will be hosting a virtual tour and sail-away later today. Seatrade Cruise News will report on that.
The next ships undergoing the Star Plus transformation are Star Legend and Star Pride.
