Finnish ship repair veteran Marttinen takes new md role

Ship repair and lifecycle services veteran Vesa Marttinen, who was involved in numerous cruise projects, was appointed managing director of Normek, one of Finland and Sweden's leading suppliers of steel structures and glass facades. He is based in Vantaa, Finland.

The company produces steel bridges, steel structures for buildings, high quality glass profiles and lightweight profile systems in steel.

Marttinen previously served as md of Turku Repair Yard, and before that he was vp marine lifecycle solutions and director of environmental services for Wärtsilä. Earlier he was vp lifecycle services for STX Europe.

At Normek Marttinen succeeds Klaus Saarikallio, who led the group since 1991.
