Royal Caribbean brass preview Silver Nova ahead of July 19 handover

Royal Caribbean CEO Jason Liberty, Chairman Richard Fain and EVP Maritime Harri Kulovaara were among those touring Silversea's next-generation ship at Eemshaven, Netherlands.

They looked over the environmetally advanced Silver Nova with Meyer Werft's Jan Meyer and Bernard Meyer, accompanied by other Royal Caribbean and shipyard team members.

Silver Nova's delivery is currently scheduled for July 19 in Eemshaven.

Pushing boundaries

'This stunning ship revolutionizes ultra-luxury cruising and represents an important step on our sustainability journey,' Liberty said. He thanked the Meyer family and the teams at Meyer Werft, Royal Caribbean Group and Silversea for 'pushing industry boundaries to create such a pioneering ship.'

Silver Nova demonstrates 'the extent to which our guests are benefitting from our brand being part of Royal Caribbean Group,' Muckermann said.

Media preview and Aug. 14 maiden voyage

Seatrade Cruise News will be among the media to get a first look in August, prior to Silver Nova's Aug. 14 maiden voyage, a seven-day Adriatic Sea round-trip from Fusina, Venice.  

After further Mediterranean cruises, the ship will reposition to the US and begin Caribbean and Central America sailings. Silver Nova's 71-day South America grand voyage is set for Jan. 4, 2024. That will sail round-trip Port Everglades.

The 728-passenger Silver Nova measures 54,700gt.
