The 114-suite vessel completed the trials in the northern Adriatic between Croatia and Italy over two weekend sessions in February.

The ship was floated out in Rijeka, Croatia in June, months after it was disclosed that outfitting would be carried out by De Wave Group.

The countdown is on

‘Scenic Eclipse II has been built to the highest standards and it is fantastic to see the Discovery Yacht sail through the sea trials and surpass all expectations, the countdown to launch really is now on,’ said Scenic's VP marine operations James Griffiths.

The ship’s inaugural sailing, an 11-day ‘Incredible Iberian Discovery’ cruise from Lisbon to Barcelona, departs April 13. Its naming ceremony is to take place in Málaga in early June.

2023/2024 sailings

Scenic Eclipse II will sail the Mediterranean, Iceland and Scotland during the summer season before moving on to Caribbean waters followed by Antarctica.

In 2024, the ship will also visit Polynesia, Indonesia and Australia, where Scenic was founded 37 years ago.

Scenic will sail to over 50 countries across all seven continents in 2023 and 2024 with the introduction of the ship.

Design

Scenic Eclipse II is almost identical to sister ship Scenic Eclipse I, except for a few enhancements.

It features high-tech GPS Dynamic Positioning, negating the need to drop anchor on ecologically sensitive seabeds, as well as custom-built stabilisers, an Advance Azipod propulsion system which minimises noise and vibration to reduce disturbance, improve manoeuvrability and reduce fuel consumption, plus the latest wastewater treatment systems.
