This is the second delay for Seabourn's first purpose-built expedition ship, originally scheduled to arrive in June this year then set back to December.
Seabourn Venture is now planned to depart on its maiden voyage from Greenwich (London), on April 10, 2022. The ship will sail two new itineraries around the UK, including this inaugural, and these cruises will open for booking Aug. 19. Voyages to northern Norway, Svalbard, Greenland and Iceland follow.
Pandemic disruptions and supply chain challenges
The change follows Seabourn executives' visit to T. Mariotti in Genoa last month where they received a detailed update on the ship’s progress over the past 18 months, which has been affected by pandemic disruptions and related supply chain challenges. The new delivery date is March 1.
'We ... were amazed at the design and beauty of the ship,' Seabourn President Josh Leibowitz said.
Passengers scheduled on voyages between Dec. 11 and April 24 will receive more details by Aug. 10 about cancellations specific to their booking.
Sister vessel now due in 2023
A sister ship under construction at T. Mariotti had been scheduled for May 2022 delivery. The new date is February 2023.
