The first to enter drydock this year was Holland America Line's Maasdam, which received scrubber and ADG installations, had two thrusters overhauled and a refit of the port and starboard rudders. HAL will return to the yard with dockings for Veendam and Prinsendam.

Royal Caribbean International's Liberty of the Seas underwent modifications and additions in late January. Cabins were added to its Deck 12 structure and a new water park was installed. On the technical side, Azipods were overhauled, major tank conversions were performed, general repairs undertaken and a scrubber system installed. Similar work was executed in 2015 on Navigator of the Seas and ‘Freedom of the Seas.

During Azamara Journey's mid-January 14-day docking, the ship got an extensive interior refit.

Later in 2016, Jewel of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas will undergo work.

Carnival Cruise Line will dock seven vessels—Carnival Fantasy, Carnival Magic, Carnival Splendor, Carnival Triumph, Carnival Valor, Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Liberty. Highlights including ADG installation on Carnival Magic, Carnival Splendor and Carnival Valor. Plus, various accommodations and public spaces upgrades will be performed on all the vessels.

Other ships scheduled for work include Adonia, Norwegian Dawn, Celebrity Summit, Coral Princess and MSC Divina.

Grand Bahama Shipyard said it continues to invest in facility upgrades to accommodate the ever-increasing demands of the cruise sector.
