Rachel York has been praised for her role as Queen Gynecia in 'Head Over Heels'
Rachel York, who served as godmother for Crystal Debussy's naming earlier this year, has been starring on Broadway in 'Head Over Heels,' a gender-fluid Elizabethan comedy set to the music of The Go-Gos.

Queen Gynecia

York plays the critically acclaimed Gynecia ('a queen about to lose her inhibitions') in this spirited love story of cross-dressing and mistaken identities whose ultimate message is inclusiveness.

Walter Littlejohn, Crystal River Cruises’ VP and managing director, caught the show following a Crystal media event in New York.

'It was truly a pleasure to see Rachel perform in “Head Over Heels” on Broadway,' he said. 'Her incredible talent and her warm, engaging personality are the very qualities that make her special to the Crystal family. We are avid fans of hers, and are honored to call her the godmother of Crystal Debussy.'

Mary Tyler Moore, Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews

York follows in the tradition of Crystal godmothers with Broadway chops, including Mary Tyler Moore (Crystal Harmony), Angela Lansbury (Crystal Symphony) and Julie Andrews (Crystal Serenity). In fact, York appeared on Broadway with Andrews in 'Victor/Victoria.'

Before her godmother duties, York was already a favorite of Crystal cruisers thanks to the 'Crystal on Broadway' program. Keith Cox, the line's VP entertainment, said she is scheduled to sail as part of that series at least five times in 2019 (dates to be announced).

But those who wish to see York in 'Head Over Heels' will have to hurry—the final performance is set for Jan. 6.
