The landmark number came from 255 calls, 42 more calls and 105,281 more passengers than this time last year.
'These numbers are extremely exciting for us,' said Cynthia Jacobs Browne, officer-in-charge at Antigua Cruise Port. 'Every passenger represents an opportunity for a taxi driver, restaurateur, shop owner or tour operator to promote the best of Antigua and to make a better living.
'We are on track for a record-breaking year,' she continued, 'and we could not be prouder of our team and our success at this point.'
Summer bookings up, too
Bookings for the summer season are also up, and Antigua is on course to outperform last year’s numbers, Jacobs Browne added.
She thanked cruise line partners, government and the port community.
