Vasco da Gama joins the CMV fleet next year
Vasco da Gama, Cruise and Maritime Voyages’ sixth ship will operate two long cruises from London Tilbury next year and which go on sale next week.

Following in the steps of the famous Portuguese explorer CMV’s latest addition to the fleet will sail from Singapore to London Tilbury, via India, next April on her maiden 45 night voyage.

Later in the year, sailing from London Tilbury on October 9, the ship takes a 53-night voyage to Australia calling in Barbados, the Panama Canal, Acapulco, islands of the South Pacific, Auckland and finishing in Sydney.

Vasco da Gama was the first European to reach India by sea, so it is fitting that the debut cruise sails to India.

The 45-night itinerary also includes Sri Lanka, Thailand and transits the Suez Canal before entering the Mediterranean.

Serving the German market in summer

Vasco da Gama will join CMV’s German brand Transocean Kreuzfahrten with a series of cruises during summer 2019 sailing from Bremerhaven and Kiel.

The ship was originally launched in 1994 by Holland America Line as the Statendam and is currently sailing as Pacific Eden.

In 2015, the ship undertook a multi-million-pound refurbishment.

At 55,820gt the capacity is 1,150 passengers accommodated in 630 cabins (including 100 singles and 149 balcony suites).

She will operate alongside Columbus (1,400pax), Magellan (1,300pax), Marco Polo (800pax), Astor (600pax) and Astoria (550pax).
