New Brunswick's Saint John expects 66 calls and 144,000 passengers in the 2017 cruise season, making it similar to 2016—a fact welcomed by the port.

'This shows a stabilization of our cruise traffic and is great news for southern New Brunswick and its many tourism-related businesses. We are also looking forward to an even better 2018,' said Jim Quinn, president and ceo, Port Saint John.

The 29th cruise season will get an early start with the April 27 arrival of Holland America Line's Veendam. The last call is scheduled for Nov. 1.

Highlights include a dozen double-ship days and four triple-ship days (Sept. 27, Oct. 4, Oct. 11, Oct. 17).

Royal Caribbean International's Vision of the Seas will visit for the first time, and Anthem of the Seas—the largest ship to call Saint John—will return for four calls (Sept. 5, Sept. 19, Oct. 5, Oct. 19).

Cruise activity via Port Saint John represents a $25m annual boost to New Brunswick’s economy.
