Sarina Bratton, chair Asia Pacific of Ponant Yacht Cruises & Expeditions, announced the company will again be naming-rights sponsor of the Sydney to Noumea open water yacht race organised by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.

ollowing a sojourn of more than 20 years, the CYCA reintroduced the 1,064 nautical mile race last year with the cooperation of Cercle Nautique Caledonien. The race is open to monohull yachts measuring between nine and 30.48 metres.

Successful 2018 event

Bratton said the French-flagged boutique cruise line’s ongoing commitment follows the success of the inaugural 2018 Ponant Sydney Noumea Yacht Race.

Yachting part of Ponant’s heritage

‘We have re-signed as naming-rights partner because yacht racing sits well with our heritage,’ Monique Ponfoort, vp Asia Pacific, said.

‘Our classic three mast yacht Le Ponant represents the close ties that our founder and ceo Jean-Emmanuel Sauvee has with sailing, a culture reflected throughout our fleet of modern luxury expedition ships as well,’ Ponfoort said.
