As Norwegian Cruise Line's nine-ship Europe season gets under way, President David Herrera is touting value.

'... Cruising to Europe with NCL offers up to 40% more value than a similar land-based vacation, making it not just a memorable experience, but a cost-effective one,' Herrera said.

This follows on the NCL chief's value message during Seatrade Cruise Global's 'New Presidents Panel.'

Head-to-head comparison

For its Europe comparison, NCL looked at the total prices for fly-cruise packages on peak and shoulder season sailings aboard Norwegian Escape (Greek Isles) and Norwegian Getaway (western Mediterranean: Italy, France and Spain) to package holidays in four-star, all-inclusive resort hotels in Spain and Greece.

The comparison tallied total prices including round-trip flights, transfers at the destination, staterooms (including balcony), all-inclusive board or 'Free at Sea' upgrade as well as service charges/tips.

Broad array of destinations

In 2024 NCL customers have a broad choice of destinations, from Iceland to the Baltic to the Greek Isles. Ships — including NCL's newest, Norwegian Viva and Norwegian Prima, and the large, nearly 165,000gt Norwegian Escape — will sail from 13 homeports. Calls average 10 hours in port.

New itineraries include July and August open-jaw cruises between New York City and Reykjavik, Iceland, on Norwegian Star.

More experiences afloat

In a release, NCL also played up the experiences passengers can have on board versus land, including 'high-production value entertainment, up to 20 world-class dining options and a wide array of shipboard activities suitable for the whole family, from thrilling races on the only three-level racetracks at sea to serene moments in the award-winning Mandara Spa.'

With the 'Free at Sea' offer, passengers choose from a menu of perks. Among them: specialty dining, unlimited beverage package, shore excursion credits, free airfare for the second traveler in a stateroom, and others.
