The Oct. 21 sailing from Miami will offer the opportunity to meet Harvey, a marine biologist and world-renowned marine artist who created the hull art for Norwegian Escape, and participate in events revolving around ocean conservation and education.
'Guy Harvey has been an incredible partner and his passion for our oceans is unmatched. We are thrilled to invite guests to join us on board for this once-in-a-lifetime cruise,' NCL president and ceo Andy Stuart said.
Passengers will get to learn about the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation's efforts to conserve the marine environment, listen in on expert-led discussions about marine conservation and shark tagging and tracking—including the making of a shark documentary—and watch Harvey as paints. Each day will have a theme, from 'Guy Harvey Day' to 'Save our Sharks.'
Among the events, Harvey will present a photo tour of his childhood in Jamaica and tell how he branched out from marine biology to art. His daughter Jessica will tell about growing up on, and under, the water, with her explorer father.
Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation videographer and producer George Schellenger will document Harvey's research and exploration expeditions, and Dr. Mahmood Shivji, a professor and research scientist from NSU’s Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography and the director of NSU’s Guy Harvey Research Institute, will speak about sharks and the overfishing issues that are threatening their survival.
Proceeds from the buy-in for a slots tournament will benefit the foundation's research and conservation initiatives. All participants in the 'Cruising & Conservation; sailing will receive special edition Guy Harvey swag with items including a special issue of the Guy Harvey Magazine.
Ports are St. Thomas, Tortola and Nassau.
