Eminent European cruise figures are State of the Industry Keynote panelists for Seatrade Europe

The conference programme for Seatrade Europe - Cruise and River Cruise Convention has been unveiled, including the State of the European Cruise Industry Keynote panelists.

The September 6-8 event will comprise discussions, presentations and workshops relating to areas such as sustainability, ports and destinations, shore excursions, virtual reality, biometrics and crew, as well as a lightning pitch competition.    

Registration is open and entries for the Seatrade Cruise Awards 2023 are being accepted.

Additional key topics surrounding Scaling Sustainably include maximising efficiency of operations shoreside, evolution of itineraries, developing destinations, harnessing stakeholder relationships, using technology to your advantage and navigating ESG goals industry wide.

State of the European Cruise Industry Keynote panelists

The three-day event kicks off with the State of the European Cruise Industry Keynote featuring Felix Eichhorn, president, AIDA Cruises, Hervé Gastinel, CEO, Ponant, Marie-Caroline Laurent, director general, Europe, Cruise Lines International Association, Michael McCarthy, chairman, Cruise Europe and Wybcke Meier, CEO, TUI Cruises.The moderator is Seatrade Cruise’s portfolio director, Mary Bond.  

They will delve into this year’s 'Scaling Sustainability' theme providing insights into current market conditions and projected growth trends, and address the critical question of how the cruise industry can collectively navigate a path to ensure lasting growth.

A session in partnership with CLIA soon follows as panelists unravel the escalating importance of ESG to stakeholders, passengers, and regulators in ‘Navigating ESG Goals Industry Wide: Charting Sustainable Horizons from River to Ocean.’ Presentations from industry leaders that breakdown ESG and its significance within the ocean and river cruise industry can be heard, with audience members invited to ask questions. 

Shortly after, the two-hour ‘Expedition Edge Workshop’ commences, equipping participants with the tools they need to effectively promote their destination. Seasoned expedition executives will share their industry expertise and firsthand experiences. 

State of the River Cruise Industry begins the day 

On September 7, the State of the River Cruise Industry starts the day’s programme, where industry leaders will shed light on the evolving river cruise landscape.

Just before midday, a series of panelists will take a close look at current and future deployment within Northern Europe in ‘Collaboration Through Crisis: Shaping the Future of Cruise Operations in Northern Europe.’ It brings together cruise lines with regional port executives in a talk aimed at changing perceptions through a holistic and collaborative communication strategy. 

Soon after, ‘Key Deciding Factors for Future Itineraries’ gets underway, presenting the main factors influencing decision-making processes behind itineraries and the essential considerations for sustainable and successful future deployment. 

Approaching late afternoon will be the Tomorrow’s Talent Today Lightning Pitch Competition. It invites exhibitors to step forward and share their strategies that combat the prevailing labour shortage and entice new talent into the cruise industry. 

Dedicated River Cruise Day 

September 7 will also see Seatrade Europe offer a dedicated River Cruise Day, developed in collaboration with content partners and supporters River Cruise Europe & IG Rivercruise. Hearing from key players in the industry, the full day programme will spotlight the river cruise market, hearing from operators, charterers, suppliers, and destinations that play a key role in the future of river cruising in Europe, and further afield. 

Attendees can expect to understand the current state of affairs for river cruising in Europe and the outlook from industry experts on navigating the future for lasting growth.
