Seatrade Cruise Virtual, Oct. 5-8, is expected to be the cruise industry's largest gathering in 2020.

The four-day forum, themed 'The New Cruise Journey,' will include an exclusive chat between BBC World News and Cruise Lines International Association, as well as the annual Professional Women in Cruise panel, spotlighting female leaders in the industry.

'Knowledge exchange is one of the most powerful tools we have to prepare for cruising’s comeback,' said Chiara Giorgi, global brand and event director for Seatrade Cruise. 'Bringing together leading industry innovators for open conversations and invaluable insights at a pivotal time will serve the cruise community in identifying opportunities and solutions as we look ahead toward 2021.'

The Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports is exclusive sponsor of Seatrade Cruise Virtual's keynote panel, 'State of the Global Cruise Industry: Perspectives on Cruising in the COVID-19 Era,' which brings together leaders of the Big Four cruise companies for the first time in a conference format in 2020.

MedCruise President Airam Diaz Pastor highlighted the 'importance of gathering all together again to develop synergies and cooperation among the cruise industry stakeholders.'

The Oct. 6 keynote session opens at 8:40 a.m. EDT/1:40 p.m. BST with addresses by Andrew Williams, president Maritime Group, Informa Markets, and Kelly Craighead, president and CEO, Cruise Lines International Association, followed by the keynote panel at 9 a.m. EDT/2 p.m. BST.

BBC interviews Adam Goldstein

BBC World News broadcast journalist Lucy Hockings and CLIA Global Chair Adam Goldstein will have an armchair chat about how the cruise industry is helping the travel and tourism sector forge a path toward sustainable recovery. 'Recharting the Course: Inspiring Cruise Confidence' is set for noon EDT/5 p.m. BST Oct. 6.

Professional Women in Cruise

Women professionals in cruising reflect on the importance of having and being a role model. Speakers include Beth Kelly Hatt, founder and partner, Aquila Center for Cruise Excellence; Capt. Christine Klimkowski, pilot trainee, Southeast Alaska Pilots; Brooke Miles, environmental officer, Royal Caribbean International; and Ingrid Quallo, business development manager, LTH-Baas. The moderator is Anna Silva, acting assistant director of operations, Port Everglades.

The panel is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. EDT/3:30 p.m. BST Oct. 8.

A look into the crystal ball

Ending the week on a forward-looking note is 'This Time Next Year,' a no-holds-barred look into the crystal ball from some of cruising's most forward-thinking leaders. The speakers will forecast what tourism and travel, particularly cruising, may look like one year from now. How will travelers' expectations be different? What will the cruise experience be like? How will the cruise fleet and destination offerings be different, and what about the distribution network? What role will digital play? How will the supplier network have changed?

Speakers include Rick Sasso, chairman, MSC Cruises USA; Dee Cooper, SVP Design and Customer Experience, Virgin Voyages; Jay Schneider, SVP Digital, Royal Caribbean Group; and Alex Sharpe, president and CEO, Signature Travel Network. The moderator is Seatrade's Anne Kalosh.

The panel is scheduled for noon EDT/5 p.m. BST Oct. 8.
