Seabourn Quest and Pearl Mist arrived on Sept. 15, carrying a total of just over 1,000 passengers and crew. Both ships will return this fall. Other scheduled vessels are Crystal Serenity and Amadea.
The season officially began May 25 with Pearl Mist's maiden call.
But most ships will be arriving over the next two months, for a total of 10 visits and more than 8,000 passengers and crew.
Crystal Serenity, which last called in 2014, will be the biggest of them. Phoenix Reisen's Amadea will be making a second consecutive annual stop.
'After the summer tourist season, the arrival this fall of 8,500 cruise passengers and crew members is a boon for Baie-Comeau and the Manicouagan region,' said Reina Savoie Jourdain, ceo, Baie-Comeau Cruises, a nonprofit tourism promotion and development organization.
'We’re proud of the warm welcome cruise guests receive at our businesses and tourist attractions, and of how our workers pull out all the stops to satisfy these international visitors. Thanks to these efforts, we welcome new cruise lines every year, and our reputation is growing,' Savoie Jourdain continued.
For the second year running, Baie-Comeau Cruises organized a familiarization tour of businesses in the city centre. Reception staff and tour guides took the tour on Sept. 13 and were introduced to the range of products and services available so they can share this information with passengers, crew, other tourists and residents.
