Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported the Star Cruises ship left Keelung on Tuesday for a four-day round-trip cruise. It was scheduled to make call at Naha, Japan, on Wednesday and Thursday and arrive back at Keelung Friday afternoon.
Carrying over 1,700 passengers, the vessel is now scheduled to arrive in Keelung Saturday.
Taiwan ban on cruise ships
SuperStar Aquarius is being allowed to return to Taiwan despite the government implementing a ban Thursday on all cruise ships calling at the island. Taiwan offers six cruise ports: Keelung, Taichung, Anping, Magong, Kaohsiung and Hualien.
Taiwan Health Minister Chen Shih-chung told local media Friday that a special measure is being allowed for the ship to berth as around 90% of the guests are from Taiwan. He confirmed that all guests and crew will be screened on arrival.
He warned if anyone tested positive for coronavirus the ship will be quarantined at least 14 days.
Diamond Princess, quarantined in Yokohama, stopped at Keelung on January 31.
