We caught up with Diversey, Seatrade Cruise Global 2023 exhibitor to hear about their plans for the show and the future

How does your product/service benefit the cruise industry and what sets it apart from the competition?
Diversey's ambition is to become a leading provider of hygiene, infection prevention and cleaning solutions for the cruise industry. Over the course of 100 years, we have served markets where hygiene is at the heart of their business and the Diversey brand has become synonymous with product quality, service, and innovation.

Our trade mark is the right product, in the right place, on time. It is possible since we have a global presence and strong distribution regional network near to C&M operations. Furthermore, Diversey can act as a one stop shop: we offer a complete range of solutions for cleaning and disinfection in cabin cleaning, galley, laundry areas on a global scale which is an uncompromised advantage for cruise customers.

What do you see as your biggest challenge within the industry in the coming year?
From high hygiene standards, brand trust and guest experience standpoint - the biggest challenge is to balance highly efficacious infection prevention products with sustainable and green cleaning in areas such as galley, laundry, housekeeping or lobbies.

Another issue is that the chemical supply chain is facing high inflation, raw material shortages including increased costs of fuel and electricity - all that creates challenges for the chemical companies serving the cruise industry, where on time deliveries are key elements in continuing galley or laundry operation while sailing.

What are you hoping to achieve by sponsoring at Seatrade Cruise Global 2023?
In 2021 Diversey took a strategic decision to leverage Hospitality's global footprint and become a leading cleaning and hygiene provider also in the Cruise & Marine industry. Since then, the company has been granted the opportunity to convert a significant number of ocean and river vessels to Diversey solutions.

During the tradeshow, our experts will be looking forward to the opportunity to have face to face conversations with our customers to understand better how we can support them in their daily challenges and help them with increasing operational efficiency, sustainability, delivering optimal hygiene, safety & prevention or building brand trust.

Describe any concrete steps your organization is taking to improve sustainability in cruise?
For our customers, Diversey has developed a sustainable approach to green operations. Green cleaning lowers the total cost to clean by reducing waste, saving water, and/or conserving energy.

This approach embraces three following pillars: 1) plant-based cleaning range derived from by-products of the agro-food industry, originating from sugar beet, maize, straw bran, wheat bran and coconut. We don’t use land or energy to grow products, we simply reuse resources that would otherwise go to waste.

Second pillar are eco-certifications which can help them provide proof of sustainable operation to their ESG goals, but also bring up their eco-friendly actions to travelers. Diversey has more globally certified products  than any other similar company.

And last but not least, Diversey is a company with a strong heritage in delivering infection prevention solutions. We own an innovative Oxivir formula based on Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide which removes viruses from surfaces in less than 1 minute and is 100% biodegradable by breaking down into water and oxygen.

What does sustainability mean to your company
Sustainability is deeply embedded in the culture of our company. Our ESG strategy, “Protect. Care. Sustain.” is designed to make Diversey a resilient and sustainable solutions provider that adapts to global issues and delivers on our promises to customers, investors, and other stakeholders.

The new solutions we are bringing to the market ensure that our value propositions go beyond cleaning. As a leading provider of hygiene, infection prevention, and cleaning solutions, Diversey believes that the greatest opportunity for positive environmental and social impact does not lie solely in its own operations, but also through the delivery of products and services that enable our customers to minimize their environmental footprint and operate more efficiently.

It’s inherent in our business model: we develop innovative sustainable solutions that protect and care for people and the planet, resulting in a virtuous cycle of benefits for Diversey and all our stakeholders.
