According to the Nassau Guardian, the vaccination mandate for cruisers will be going away. Unvaccinated visitors must get tested ahead of arrival
Two major cruise destinations are changing COVID-19 policies, with the Bahamas to end its vaccination mandate, while the Cayman Islands are doing away with any extra steps for travelers.

According to the Nassau Guardian, the Bahamas will align cruise protocols with air protocols. Currently, air travelers don't have to be vaccinated but cruisers 12 and older do in order to visit any Bahamas port, including a private island. So this means the cruise vaccination mandate will be going away.

Negative test within 72 hours for unvaccinated

Unvaccinated cruisers will need to present a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours before arrival, just as air travelers do.

The Nassau Guardian cited Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation Chester Cooper as saying the changes followed a meeting with cruise lines, which have been easing their COVID rules since the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ended its COVID program for cruise ships. He said whie air and cruise arrivals will be treated the same, cruise lines will still need to ensure 95% of their crew are vaccinated.

The timing for the cruise change was not specified in the report, and it hasn't been updated on the Bahamas' traveler information site.

No vaccination or testing for Cayman

As for Cayman, starting Aug. 24 all travelers, whether vaccinated or not, will be permitted to enter without the need of any additional documents or health-related steps.

They will no longer be required to apply for a travel declaration, present a negative COVID test, show proof of vaccination or wear masks.

However, businesses may require visitors to mask up in order to enter.
