Swan Hellenic partnered with Jeunes Restaurateurs to create Maris, a concept that will see a different internationally-acclaimed chef on board SH Vega and SH Diana for a high-end gastronomic discovery experience.

Driven by a passion for tradition, sustainability and quality local ingredients, according to Swan, it will be offered on a series of exclusive cultural expedition cruises. A different signature dish will be served every night, as the Maris chef builds to the climax of a gala dinner. Cruises in the Maris series can be daisy-chained to create a food odyssey.

Swan Hellenic CEO Andrea Zito said Swan Hellenic and JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs are ‘delighted with how our Maris cruises are set to take the explorations of Swan Hellenic guests into new territory of gastronomic and cultural discovery.’ He added, ‘We’re confident that Maris is going to exceed all expectations and can’t wait to hear our guests’ reactions.’

Gastronomic shore excursions

The Maris chef will interact with passengers during the voyage. They will host a show revealing their cooking secrets, as well as lead gastronomic excursions ashore to explore local culinary traditions and specialities, providing their expert knowledge as passengers get to grips with fishing, farming, foraging and more.

Official launch on board SH Diana

Chef and sommelier pairing Sabina and Grega Repovž set Maris in motion April 14 on board SH Diana, during the ‘Mysteries of Carthage and the Moors’ sailing. However, the experience will officially launch next month in a gala dinner in connection with the ship’s naming ceremony on May 4 in Amsterdam.

Three JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs chefs will showcase their skill for the occasion: Edwin Soumang from Restaurant One in the Netherlands, who has one Michelin star, Daniel Canzian from Ristorante Daniel Canzian in Italy and Michael Ammon of Gasthof Jakob in Germany, with one Michelin star.
