The 12,668gt ice-strengthened ship, outfitted with 20 zodiacs and top deck observation room, is the former Kristina Katarina purchased by private investors earlier this year, as part of the Finnish company’s restructuring. The sale was arranged by SunStone Ships with FleetPro as technical managers.
Built in Poland in 1982, the vessel has recently undergone extensive renovations in 2010 when purchase by Kristina Cruises and again this year. The ship has three lounges providing space for simultaneous workshops, events and presentations. Cabins range between 9-29sq mtr in size and can accommodate up to 198 passengers.
‘Not only will we retain the entertaining and educational expedition programme our guest value but we will be able to invite even more staff aboard to further enhance the experience, says Cedar Swan, vp, Adventure Canada, a family-owned adventure travel company specialising in land–based and small ship cruising in Arctic, Antartica, and Canada’s east coast.
