AIDA Cruises is celebrating its 20th anniversary this week. On June 7 1996, the first ship in the AIDA fleet was christened by former first lady Christiane Herzog in Rostock and put into service.

On Tuesday. over 23,000 passengers onboard the 11 AIDA ships celebrated the anniversary and to mark the ocassion AIDA has created an exclusive range of itineraries branded 'AIDA Selection' for cruises on AIDAcara, AIDAvita, and AIDAaura.

AIDA Selection cruises take unusual routes to new regions, exclusive ports and include extended stays on the company's smaller AIDA ship class. On-board program includes typical culture of the region and culinary offerings with regional specialties and cooking courses based on the destination.

The first AIDA Selection cruises will be on AIDAcara starting on February 11, 2017, under the title 'Winter in the High North'.

The voyages begin in Hamburg and take guests to Norway for Northern Lights and winter fjord landscapes.

In summer 2017, all three ships will offer AIDA Selection cruises featuring Iceland and Greenland and another to North Cape and Lofoten

AIDA guests will have a say in decisions on future routes and ports for AIDA Selection.
