Magellan Explorer was delivered to Antarctica21 last weekend following ‘satisfying’ test results, Monica Randriamialy, marketing manager, Antarctica21 told Seatrade Cruise News.

The 100-passenger ship will sail from Valdivia Chile, where she was built by ASENAV shipyard, to Punta Arenas at the end of the month.

She will be officially named November 8 in Punta Arenas and will sail her maiden voyage to Antarctica November 28.

Custom-built to the latest Polar Code specifications, the ship features a glass-enclosed observation lounge and presentation room with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, dining room, bar, library, meeting room, gym, sauna and medical clinic.

Closer to nature

The forward-facing observation deck leads to the bow of the ship, allowing passengers a closer view of marine wildlife.

The ship has a fleet of 10 Zodiacs for quick passenger disembarkation for wildlife experiences.
