Renderings of the areas show a different, more sophisticated look. It's still a Fun Ship, but there are notable changes in the style, and Carnival promised a new celebrity partnership and some fresh dining concepts.
Grand Central - atrium and day to night entertainment
On Decks 6-8 midship, Grand Central will create a sense of wonder the moment passengers step aboard. The design transforms the atrium into a day-to-night entertainment complex with three-deck-high windows and a bar overlooking the starboard side of the ship. Steps away are Bonsai Sushi and Bonsai Teppanyaki, expanded from designs on the current ships. The first dedicated Punchliner Comedy Club will present nightly shows and Piano Bar 88 is also located here.
French Quarter - jazz, food and drinks
On Deck 6 aft is Carnival's nod to New Orleans that combines entertainment and food with new bars, music and eateries. This neighborhood is linked via a two-deck-high promenade leading to a New Orleans jazz club with live entertainment and drinks. More details will be announced in the spring with the introduction of a new celebrity partnership.
La Piazza - new Mediterranean seafood restaurant
At La Piazza on Deck 8 midship passengers will be transported to Italy and the heritage of Carnival's senior officers at the family-style Cucina del Capitano and 24/7 Pizzeria del Capitano as well as a new Mediterranean-themed seafood restaurant. A bar will serve cappuccino by day and classic Italian cocktails by night, while strolling musicians keep everyone entertained.
Summer Landing - Guy's Smokehouse I Brewhouse
Deck 8 aft will be home to the chill spot Summer Landing. There will be an expanded Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse I Brewhouse with smoked-on-board barbecue favorites by longtime Carnival partner Guy Fieri and the line's ParchedPig craft beers brewed on board. Outdoors are a pool and whirlpools, a new bar, the lunch counter for Smokehouse I Brewhouse and ample lounging space.
Lido - new food concepts
This Decks 17-18 venue expands Carnival's casual poolside restaurants like Guy's Burger Joint, the New England-insipired Seafood Shack and BlueIguana Cantina for Mexican fare. Some new food concepts will be anounced at a later date.
The Ultimate Playground - home to BOLT
Decks 18-20 aft will offer amazing sea vistas from a spacious, family-friendly play area highlighted by the fleet's most elaborate Carnival WaterWorks and an expanded SportSquare. The Ultimate Playground is appropriately home to BOLT, the first roller-coaster at sea.
Mardi Gras, the first LNG-powered cruise ship in North America, will also have signature Carnival features like an Alchemy Bar, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse and the Serenity adults-only retreat.
Plus, a number of further innovations are to be announced.
