Port Everglades officials welcomed Crystal Serenity and Capt. Egil Giske Tuesday at a traditional plaque exchange ceremony.

'We are honored that Crystal Cruises has returned to Port Everglades to homeport your luxury ships after a 10 year absence,' Port Everglades deputy director Glenn Wiltshire told the captain and Crystal Cruises executives Edie Rodriguez, ceo and president, and Christian Sauleau, svp operations and total guest satisfaction.

Crystal Serenity's Nov. 8 sailing will be the only one from the port for the 2016/2017 cruise season. The ship will return in October 2017 with sister Crystal Symphony for a full season of sailings.

In total for 2016/17, Port Everglades will host 42 multi-day cruise ships.
