Most of Shanghai’s cruise activity is centred in Baoshan, where the Wusongkou International Cruise Port is located and where the larger cruise ships berth and turnaround.
In 2017, Shanghai welcomed a total of 512 cruise calls and 2.9m passenger movements, making it the fourth largest cruise homeport in the world.
At the same time, Wusongkou region is actively developing the cruise support and supply chain networks, including the construction of Shanghai CSSC International Cruise Industrial Park, where more than 40 cruise-related companies have established an office.
In 2017, the supply value of the Wusongkou cruise terminal reached RMB426m(US$66.2m).
By 2020, Shanghai aims to create an international shipping hub in support of the cruise industry offering full service, logistics and resource functions.
Wuskongkou is expanding its berthing to accommodate up to four ships simultaneously and the goal is to reach 3.5m annual cruise passenger movements by the end of 2020.
Baoshan is once again the venue for Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific 2018 taking place at the Delta Hotels by Marriott, on October 23-25, 2018.
