Davis will oversee the expanding expedition destination operations, assist with the development of new programs and manage the expedition field staff. He also will oversee the Silversea Expedition Academy, which recruits and trains talent.
Experience in the field and shoreside
Davis has worked in the expedition cruise industry since 1993, both in the field and as part of the land-based senior management team. In the field, he led and participated in more than 200 voyages on over 40 vessels, ranging from a 100-year-old gaff-rigged sailing vessel to a nuclear-powered icebreaker. Shoreside, he has been involved in planning and facilitating innovative itineraries and programs and overseeing the recruitment, retention and training and development of field staff.
He has traveled in the polar regions and to remote locations in the South Pacific, South Atlantic, North Atlantic, Russian Far East, Newfoundland and Labrador, Alaska, around the coasts of the UK and Norway, among other destinations.
Davis holds a master of philosophy degree in polar studies from the Scott Polar Research Institute at Cambridge University.
