Trois-Rivières amphitheatre to stage three summers of Cirque shows
A series of tribute shows by Cirque du Soleil is scheduled for the next three summers at Amphithéâtre Cogeco in Québec's Trois-Rivières. The first, a tribute to the iconic Québec folk rock group Beau Dommage, is scheduled to open July 15, 2015.

The shows are 'another good reason to come to the St. Lawrence and stop in Trois-Rivières,' said Yolaine Masse, director of Tourisme Trois-Rivières, who told Seatrade Insider she's received inquiries from several cruise lines about the performances.

Located at the confluence of the St. Maurice and St. Lawrence rivers, the amphitheater offers covered seating for 3,500 and can accommodate up to 5,500 audience members in its surrounding green space.

Established in the 1970s, Beau Dommage was 'the voice of an entire generation of Quebecers,' according to Yasmine Khalil, president of 45 DEGREES, the Cirque du Soleil subsidiary that creates its special events and is responsible for the production of this tribute show.

The show is designed expressly for the Amphithéâtre Cogeco and will be presented some 20 times this summer.

'We are pleased and proud to know that our simple songs are inspiring the Cirque artists in their ongoing quest to push the boundaries of poetry and prowess,' said Pierre Huet, songwriter and member of Beau Dommage.
